1 - What is the cost of a Luggage Transfer?

Accepted Answer

- If you book 4 or more Luggage Transfers - each Luggage Transfer is 15€, including up to 2 luggage pieces.
- If you book 1, 2 or 3 Luggage Transfers - each Luggage Transfer is 20€, including up to 2 luggage pieces.

>> Each additional luggage piece is 5€ per Luggage Transfer in both cases.

These rates are valid for standard route sections.
Reduced rate is only applied when booking 4 or more luggage transfers at once.

2 - What is a standard route section?

Accepted Answer

A standard route section corresponds to 1 standard hiking day.

These are the route sections of the Fishermen's’ trail:

2 - Vila Nova de Milfontes > Almograve
3 - Almograve > Zambujeira do Mar
4 - Zambujeira do Mar > Odeceixe
5 - Odeceixe > Aljezur
6 - Aljezur > Arrifana
7 - Arrifana > Carrapateira
8 - Carrapateira > Vila do Bispo
9 - Vila do Bispo > Sagres
10 - Sagres > Salema
11 - Salema > Luz
12 - Luz > Lagos

These are the route sections of the Historical Way:

2 - Vale Seco - Cercal do Alentejo
3 - Cercal do Alentejo - Porto Covo

3 - Is it also possible to walk from south to north?

Accepted Answer

Yes.
The trail is way marked in both ways and our service is available in both directions.

Question 4

4 - I’m planning on walking smaller distances and stay at smaller villages along the trail. Do you also deliver outside the main villages/trailheads?

Accepted Answer

Yes.
Service is available along the entire region in all towns, including middle points such as Ribeira da Azenha, Cavaleiro/Cabo Sardão, Brejão, Rogil, Alfambras, Vilarinha, Raposeira or Burgau.

5 - What is the cost of longer Luggage Transfers, including more than 1 route section or from the start to the end of the trail?

Accepted Answer

- Luggage transfers covering 2 route sections, cost is double - 30€ - including up to 2 luggage pieces. Each additional luggage piece is 5€ per Luggage Transfer.

- For longer direct transfers (including 3 or more route sections) there is a special rate of 10€ per route section, including up to 2 luggage pieces. Each additional luggage piece is 5€ per transfer.

Ex: The luggage transfer from Porto Covo to Lagos is 120€, as it covers 12 route sections.

Note: longer luggage transfers covering multiple route sections are only available for small groups, up to 4 luggage pieces. For any other case, please contact us by e-mail.

6 - Can I book my Luggage Transfers even if I haven’t booked my accommodations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Even if you haven’t booked all your accommodations, you already know the route sections you’re are going to hike. While booking online, simply choose the option ‘No Booking’ on the villages where you still don’t know where you’ll be staying.

As soon as you know the missing accommodations on your itinerary, inform us, replying to the confirmation e-mail you’ve received.

Question 7

7 - I can’t find my accommodation on your listings. I’m staying at Airbnb’s and Private Accommodations that do not have staff or a reception. Can I still use your service?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We deliver in every accommodation along the way. We know ALL the hosts and have ALL the codes. If your accommodation is not on our listings, choose the option ‘Other’ and provide the contact number of your host on the comments section you’ll find just before submitting your request.

>> Between Salema and Lagos we only deliver on the listed accommodations.

Question 8

8 - I’m staying more than a night at one or more villages along the way. Can I still use your service?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you plan to stay more than 1 night in any of the villages, simply use the comments section you'll find just before submitting your request to inform us about the village(s) where you stay more than a night.

9 - Is the service limited to a specific list of accommodations in the South, from Salema to Lagos?

10 - I’ll arrive in the morning by bus/transfer to the starting point of my hike and do not have a hotel. Can I still use your service?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can sort out almost all situations and will work on a solution for your request. Write us an e-mail and let us know about your plans. Please remember that luggage needs to be ready for collection from 09 am. If you arrive later that that, we apologize but we’ll not be able to offer the service on the first day.

11 - I’ll finish my hike and get a bus/transfer afterwards, and do not have a hotel. Can I still use your service?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can sort out almost all situations and will work on a solution for your request. Write us an e-mail and let us know about your plans. Please remember that luggage is delivered until 04:30 pm. If you have a bus or transfer earlier than that, we apologize but we’ll not be able to offer the service on the last day.

12 - How will you know what is my luggage on the first day?

Accepted Answer

We’ll label your luggage and handle all logistic details together with your hosts. Just help us by identifying your luggage on the first pick up with the name used to book the Luggage Transfers. Thank you !

Question 13

13 - Do I need to deliver my luggage personally? Does it really needs to be ready from 9:00 am?

Accepted Answer

Luggage must be ready from 9:00 am and will be delivered till 4:30 pm.
Always leave your luggage in a central location inside your accommodation, like the lobby, living room, reception or luggage room.
If your house has a key locker - leave the key back inside the key locker - so that our team is able to collect your luggage. We have all the codes and are in contact with all hosts !
You don’t need to be present for the pick-up and delivery and can start the hike before we arrive!
We’ll label your luggage on the first transfer. DO NOT remove the label until the end of the hike. We need it to make sure your luggage is delivered on the right place.

14 - Is there a weight limit per luggage piece?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The maximum weight per luggage piece is 18 kg.

Luggage rules:

• Each luggage item must not exceed 18 kg.
• 1 luggage item per person (and not 1 luggage shared between 2 or more people, so that each person has its own luggage piece and maximum weight per piece is respected)
• Food items are not permitted (water bottles, beverages, fruits, any kind of food, dry or fresh). 
• Backpacks must have their straps loose.
• Luggage items must be standalone items and cannot be stuffed together on carry bags.

15 - Can you store my luggage?

Accepted Answer

No. We do not offer luggage storage while you are on the trail. Contact your accommodations.

Question 16

16 - I’m cycling the route, can I still use your service? How does it work for cyclists?"

Accepted Answer

Yes. Write us an e-mail and share with us your itinerary. Bikers normally cover a longer distances than hikers, so we’ll have to quote your request on demand.

You may book your Luggage Transfers as soon as you have your accommodations booked.
